Rep. McCotter Misrepresents Public Opinion On Health Care

Today, Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) has a new Yahoo! News op-ed attacking the Democratic majority's "radical proposals" for health care reform. 

The bulk of his argument, however, relies on one glaring falsehood: that the American people are on his side.  In just one page to start the column, McCotter invokes the notion of public "opposition" or "dissent" at least five times. 

"No wonder the American people's disapproval of the president, his Democratic Congress and their health redistribution scheme is plummeting," he surmises. 

But, in reality, McCotter is the one who's not listening to the people.  After months of shouting from the right, more Americans support a public option than don't -- even if it means moving forward without cooperation from Republicans. 

Moreover, recent polling has shown that, by a significant margin, the American people don't trust Republicans when it comes to health care reform:
